Not concerning himself with the stone figures Jonathon moves up next to Rij and asks, "What do you see in the next chamber? Should we grab some of those glowing pieces off the beetles for light?"

Nodding toward the soldier statuettes, Rij says simply, "Shabti, the tomb guardians." He turns his head toward Jonathon as he presents his questions. "Nothing in there that I can see from here. Some more light probably wouldn't be a bad idea. I can light a torch or my lantern if we want more than this glow. Or that could draw more attention to us down here." He shrugs his shoulders and looks to the others.

Rij nods in agreement and scoops a few more of the glowing glands into his bullseye lantern, hoping the highly polished insides will magnify and direct this strange red-orange light like it does with a flame. No sense in wasting my oil if I don't need to.

Taking one final glance around, the young man peers into the next chamber, shining the bullseye lantern around to see as much as possible.

Across the threshold is a hallway with a badly broken floor, as if some gigantic being cracked the submerged temple in two like a stale flatbread. The humidity is markedly higher, and the walls and floor collect a thin dew. Against all odds, much of the stone around the crack that should have fallen in and sealed the hallway has been suspended, wedged in the ceiling like an impossible keystone.

Across the crag in the floor, the passage slopes downward at a thirty-degree angle, and a doorway to the left leads to a considerably larger chamber.

(Anyone attempting to cross can make the jump with relative ease, but must make a Dex check to land safely. Failure on an even number = fall backward into the hole; on an odd number = slide down the slope into the rubble.)

Rij sheaths his sword and hangs his hooded lantern on the end of his halberd. Walking up to the edge, he carefully places the lamp on the other side of the gap and then tosses the halberd itself across onto the floor. After taking a few steps back, he runs and jumps over the gash in the floor.
