I can't imagine coming up with $300 for gaming materials over the short term, though I certainly have spent many times that amount over the years already.

It has been about 6 months now since they have announced their trouble so it hasn't been all one lump sum. And I still have 4 books on order from Amazon that I ordered in October and they still have not shipped. Ships in 4 - 6 weeks has turned into 4 to 6 months. And Balancing my check book around this 4 books is getting tough. I know I have an extra amount of money in my checking but don't dare touch it cause that will be the day my order goes through.

You're still talking $50/month, that's as bad as my car insurance. *nod* Understood all too well.

I don't belive Rastilin was evil because his sole was possed by another historical mage Fistandantalius from just after the Cataclism. my fav char is Talantalus (tanis) and laurana

I think Raistlin was falling towards evil before Fistandantalius ever entered him. And it seemed to me like this was more of a willing possession, Raistlin craved power and was willing to do anything for it.

Yep, I always enjoyed reading anything about Raistlin. He to me is the perfect image of a mage. A power hungry mage.

It would be fun to go back and read those books. It has been a very long time. I think, Meeting of the Sextents, was my favorite series.

Fistadantilus behaved efficiently, without ethics or convictions. When he was dying, his one fear was that sorcery like his would vanish from the world.
Abode Almost anywhere in Krynn, based at the Tower of High Sorcery in Palanhthus. He lived from slightly before the Cataclysm to almost a century after it, but can be encountered much later than thatas a lich.
History
The tale of Fistadantilus is interweaved with Raistlin Majere, for those 2 personalities merged and their fates were the same. Fistadantilus was born before the cataclysm. Like so many sorcerers, he began his career wearing the Red Robes of Neutrality, but soon after shifted to Black in search of greater power. People acclaimed Fistadantilus as the greatest wizard who ever lived, and by far the most evil Yet his ultimate ambition lay outside the world. Fistadantilus hoped to travel to the Abyss, where he would defeat Takhis herself, the Queen of Darkness. If he was to enter he the Abyss, Fistadantilus had to find a magical portal between the planes. To learn where this gate could be found , he bargained with Astinus, bribing the historian with the one form of riches that chronicler valued - Knowledge. Fistadantilus made Astinus the globe of Present Time Passing, a ball of crystal that enabled the Chronicler to observe all that happened in the world, instantaneously. In return, Astinus gave the wizard a hint that reveled wher the portal lay. The gate was in the dungeons of Zhamen, a margal fortress on the plains of Dergoth, where the mountain dwarves of thorbardin challenged thier reletives the hill dwarves. Mobs stormed the Towers of High Sorcery, and the Cataclysm came, but Fistadantilus continued to pursue his dream. From the Improvished victims of the Cataclysm he formed a great army that marched on Thorbardin, searching for riches. thus began the Dwarfengate Wars. The Army of Fistadantilus seized Pax Tharkas and could possibly have defeated all of Thorbardin and achieved its goal. But Fistadantilus pressed on to Capture Zhamen Prematurely, Advancing ahead of his Supply lines in one of Krynn's most disastrous military blunders. No matter. Once Fistadantilus reached the gate he had no more use for the war. The archmagi who built Zhaman's gate had great respect for the power that they had unleashed, and they laid stern restrictions on its use. Only a male Magician of great evil, accompanied by a priestess of ultimate good - acting in unison - could pass thourgh it. Fistadantilus duped Denubis, Paladine's chosen cleric, into helping him and together they passed into the Abyss. Had they Succeeded, Fistadantilus might well have become a God. However, at the moment that he left Krynn, a gnomish magical item interacted with the portal's magic and ruined it. The Resulting explosion engulfed both armies of the Dwarfen gate War. Only one dwarf, Kharas, who had oppesed the slaughter from the its beginning, remained alive. Fistadantilus himself survived somehow, but his quest was over. Fistadantilus, who had slain two entire armies by accident, was near to being conquered by old age. The thought tormented him, and to preserve his power, he sent his spirit to strange planes. He became a lich, searching for the body of a new magician who could achieve his dream. So it was that Raistlin Encountered him dureing the Test. The ambitious young wizard part of his own selffor traces of Fistadantilus,s power. Raistalin became diseased and morally foul. In return, Fistadantilus bolstered Raistlin spells and help at unexpected times.
"I think Raistlin was falling towards evil before Fistandantalius ever entered him. And it seemed to me like this was more of a willing possession, Raistlin craved power and was willing to do anything for it."
i do believe u were right in that statement, however i still believe he wasnt evil, he was miss guided and had a thirst for knowledge and power, is that truly evil, no, unless he does something to gain that know how or to use it in an evil way, yes he did go back in time and kill Fistandantilus. writing this brings a saying to mind 'u most chose the lesser of 2 evils' . there is 1 thing i know about rastilins story, when he goes to challenge the gods and become one his self with the help of crysania (caramon and tas), it dawns on him that he cannot love so he cant creat new life he gives up his dream and does become 1 (dont know what happens next does he die or does he return to krynn). At the moment i am reading the twins series of books and i'm about to finish the 1st one so i dont know an awful lot about this but i do know has been pick up reading the books the adventures and the other bits to do with dragonlance.

I dont want to spoil it for you so I wont. The ending however is appropriate. I also agree that Raistlin was marginally evil or atleast dedicated to selfish tendancies. He remains one of my favorite characters for any genre of books though.

Is it new, or is it from when TSR still owned D&D?
I'm torn over which I want it to be. If it's done by WotC, they've probably butchered it, to make it 3.5 compatible - bleech. But, if it's done by WotC, it might be CGI animation, which could be cool. On the other side, TSR would hopefully be true to the story (it's their story after all!), but it could be bad American animation (no offense, but all the cool cartoons from that era were Japanese originally).
