in the Air Force we have PT once a year... Active Duty Air Force is mandated to have PT three times a week. The PT test consists of push ups, "crunches" (what used to be called sit ups) ,a mile and half run, and waist measurement. If you are blessed with being really skinny you can probably skip the push ups, crunches and just run and still pass. I on the other hand, had to max my push ups, sit ups and run a 13:30 mile and a half to pass all because my waist isn't 29". I would like to just have what the Army had when I was in which was run your 2 miles in 17:20 (I think) do 40 push ups, 50 sit ups and you passed. The Air Force has to break out the Ouija board, stir tea leaves around, throw a dart at a dart board to conjure up a score to tell weather a person has passed their PT test or not. As far as the mandated PT three times a week that is supposed to be part of the duty day. It works great for hospital, and personnelists. For us Flightline folks it ain't happening. We get our PT launching Airborne Weapons Platforms. (Fighter Jets/Bombers). |

It takes me about 20 minutes to walk a mile so I certainly could not run that.
