Do you prefer one or multiple Dungeon Masters in your realm?8

Well I learned how to DM from my best friend, and (even though he HATES to DM) I sometimes ask him to DM again so that I can take a break and level up my Paladin or murder innocents with my Dwarf. He only dislikes it because he has no ideas, but when I ask him to DM, it's usually because he HAS ideas. So yeah, I think that it's healthy to rotate every once in a while, but as of now I'm my group's DM.

I've gotta go with a rotation here, it gives the neophyte DMs a chance to practice under the watchful eyes and helpful suggestions of the more experienced DM, keeps the DM from growing bored (which can be very, very painful for a party), and allows people to play different characters without having to keep track of too many campaigns happening in one realm.
Though I'm a firm supporter of the "Finish the Damned Campaign" movement... leaving things half-done can just cause problems. Best to do a full run through and then see to switching out the DM.

I prefer one DM, as you know what the allow and dont, different DM's have their own flavor and just not that into switching over and over. Some DM's just aren't that good either.8

Every other Wednesday me and a friend alternate DM'ing. One of the things I learned was either keep your DM out of your world or at the least off your continent. That prevents storyline overlap and allows each of you to have world changing events without stepping on each other's toes.
My friend has a Forgotten Realms campaign and I run Eberron.
The best part about alternating DMs. I get to play. I love playing this game.
And the main reason I started alternating was because I just don't have a enough time in a week to prep for the following week. My game creativity was suffering DMing every week.

But then we must stage a coup, and usurp or even slay the DM to get a new one...

...and that's when the herd of Beholders descends on the heroes slumbering blissfully in a little town...

Don't need a herd... just one, a lone Ghost Beholder...

I would have guessed there would be more single DM worlds...

Of Course! Multiple DM's is an unattainable luxury in this time starved world!

Which is why the young generation must step up and become the new rulers, granting that luxury to the veterans! DMing can get tiresome without breaks, and if the DM becomes unhappy, well... we know what happens then. The pain, it becomes legendary...

That varies I guess, Steve likes to play sometimes and DM others, so we switch out for the apprentices if possible to give him needed breaks. Otherwise, as I said, the pain becomes legendary.
