I remember that game. Was quite fun at the time.

Yeah, I have a few characters end up in Ravenloft. Exciting the first time, but after awhile it got to be rather boring.

I've been reading about ravenloft, it can be as dynamic a place as the realms with the correct dm and imagination.

I've been reading about ravenloft, it can be as dynamic a place as the realms with the correct dm and imagination. This is true. The last person I played it with was all about ruining the characters/players fun. It got old fast. I would no doubt love to try it again however as the scope of the realm seemed to be a lot of fun. Whether you were triumphing over dark forces or a dark force yourself.

I had never played the Ravenloft modules until about a year ago. Prior to that the DM's had always thrown in customized elements from the setting into their own homebrew worlds. I like the campaign I'm currently involved in though the prewritten modules definitely have some shortcomings. Specifically when the party begins to think and do things outside the box. It takes a highly adaptable DM to keep things running smoothly.

Steve runs a good game of Ravenloft, keeping it gloomy and evil enough that the party doesn't want to ever go back there, but fun and surprising enough that the players enjoy their suffering. One of the nice things about it is that combat is a much smaller factor, since most of the things you're up against are really damned powerful and would rather screw with you than just outright slaughter you. Of course, sometimes you get into a situation where you're just plain hosed, and only DM intervetion can save you... but Steve's good about pulling people out of that and throwing them into something more managable if just as twisted in it's own way. Maybe I'll see if he can run a Ravenloft game on here. I'll talk with him about it, keep an eye on the "Interesting in Playing" thread in the main RP forum, if he's up for it I'll post something in there, and we'll run it under a Stronghold.

Hmm, I dunno. I don't think I have the time to take on another game - even if it is PBP. :/

Heh, Steve seems to be a bit limited on time as well, he's barely posting right now... maybe later, when everybody has a few less things and a bit more free time =P
