Actually it followed the book quite well. I didnt agree with the actors they cast but.....
Was not a total loss, besides its only animated. I think the Dungeons and Dragons movies were a lot worse.

I'd like to chime in about the Dragonlance Dragons of Autumn Twilight animated movie. I liked it a lot, besides the fact I loved that novel. It is a great story. There were two distinctly different animation styles in the movie. The most common and most successful style was reminiscent of 70s and 80s animation like The Last Unicorn, Hanna-Barbara World of Super Adeventure, The Hobbit etc.. Very nostalgic look to it. It worked. The second kind of animation was used only for the scenes containing Draconians. This looked much more like a digital collage or montage and it wasn't nearly as successful. Draconians were some of the most interesting creatures of Krynn, I was disappointed to see them so profaned. I had a great time watching this movie however and I had a hard time when it ended. The story had just begun. I hope somebody makes more. Also, I always pronounced "Takhisis" differently than they did in this movie.

I just bought my fiance the second trilogy by Weis and Hickman. Time of the Twins, Test of the Twins, and whatever the third one is. He really enjoyed rereading the first trilogy, it took him back to way back when..... He's not into anything after that, when other authors got to mangle it.

New to the board.
Glad to see other interested in AD&D. I've been playing since 1978 with the old box, and dice that needed the crayon to color in the numbers.
Well enough of that.
I just wanted to know why was there a decision to exclude orcs from the Dragonlance campaign & storyline (novels)?
Does anyone have any ideas as to why this is so?

Hobgoblins. But seriously, by limiting the amount of monsters, the DM and players are forced to become more expert in playing or defeating the available monsters. Maybe? I prefer goblins and hobgoblins to orcs. Maybe because I read Weis and Hickman before I read Tolkien.
