As requested here is the closest I can do to Elven Mint Tea....
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Two (2) bags of tea ( I prefer a nice Chamomile or vanilla )
Ten (10) leaves of mint
Half (1/2) teaspoon whole cloves
One (1) stick of cinnamon ( DO NOT USE POWDER)
Two (2) cups boiling water
Four (4) cups grapefruit juice
Six (6) ounce can of frozen orange juice concentrate
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Put tea, cloves, mint and cinnamon in a pot. Pour in boiling water and cover. Let it stand for about Ten (10) minutes.
Using a Two (2) quart pitcher combine grapefruit juice and orange juice concentrate.
After the tea has waited it's alloted time, Strain out all solids and mix tea with juice. Put it in the cold box to chill. When ready, stir well and serve over ice. For a nice touch top with Two (2) mint leaves and cherry.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I hope this fulfills your request closely enough.
I shall do my best to answer any request sent.

Those are both great, Zagog! I'm gonna try them right away, man, thanks. Where did you learn these culinary skills of yours? And that would be interesting, Neimz. A little something from the Shire, perhaps? Or maybe a forgotten recipe off the dusty shelf of a long abandoned Moria kitchen... I'll tell you what I like to do during the holidays: I like to crush a candy cane up with a mortar & pestle, then sprinkle the powder into a nice big cup of hot chocolate with colored marshmallows. I don't have any creative names for it, but it sure is some good stuff! How about, "DM's Holiday Cocoa"? lol

Thank you, DM. In answer to your question, I have quite a large family and they live all over the world. While visiting them over the years each branch taught their regional recipes to me. I also collect recipes from more esoteric avenues.
You did remind me that I do have couple of rather simple recipes from Greenhills Shire that I could share. One for a nice hot cocoa and the other a tasty stewed rabbit.
Niemz, I must apologize, But all the Dwarven drinks I know contain alcohol. However I am looking for a way to make them non_ alcoholic and yet still palatable.
Still, as always, I will endeavor to find recipes for all your requests.

Hey, how about creative gaming table snack ideas? Maybe like a medieval spin on the old clichéd classic: "potato chips and soda". I don't know, I'm thinking maybe something with a meatball/nacho feel to it? A lot of gamers can get rather hungry during those long wee-hour sessions, and it's always good to have something nice and substantial to fill the bill! (Kind of like a heavier light snack, if that makes any sense.) And maybe you could suggest some carbonated drinks or other drinks that might mix well enough with carbonated drinks to give off sort of an exotic (and like you said, still palatable) flavor.
I'm liking this thread, btw! The whole food and drink issue has contributed to many a sudden loss of Player anticipation level over the years...
Example:
DM: Heavy, growling snores echo down the tunnel from somewhere beyond the gaping archway that opens into a dimly lit chamber up ahead. Blistering heat that reeks of brimstone and decay wafts past you in ominous waves. Suddenly, the snoring goes silent... Several massive, chuffing snorts of breath echo toward you in rapid succession. Moments later, with a deep grating resonance that reverberates throughout the stone tunnel in which you stand, a thundering voice that may as well be the mountain itself being shaken from its very foundation says...
Player X: Um...sorry, but...um, is this gonna be a big battle? 'Cause if it is, I really need to get something to eat, 'cause I'm starved.
DM: Yeah, you know what? That's exactly what it says...

Well DM, I didn't think I had the balls to do this, but I checked anyway and was surprised to discover that I did!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Snacks From The Stormy Knight's Inn
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Four (4) cups shredded Cheddar cheese
Two (2) cups all purpose flour
One (1) cup butter ( let stand at room temp. until soft )
One (1) teaspoon salt
Two (2) 4 oz. cans chopped green chilies drained
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Preheat oven to 375. Mix all ingredients. When it is well mixed make One (1) inch balls and put them on a greased cookie sheet about Two (2) inches apart. Cook for about Eighteen (18) minutes.
Now you are almost ready to feed your grumbling gamers, But first........
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
One and a half (1 1/2) pounds ground meat..... (No, I will not tell you what kind of meat I use!)
Quarter (1/4) cup dry bread crumbs ( You may be tempted, But DO NOT use the ones in the bottom of the toaster)
Quarter (1/4) cup chopped onion
One (1) teaspoon salt
One (1) egg mildly tortured or slightly beaten ( Your choice)
One (1) cup chili sauce
One (1) cup grape jelly ( No this is not a Mistake! Don't argue with me..... Just do it!) ( No I am not drunk! ) ------------------------------------------------------------------------
In a bowl combine ground meat, bread crumbs, onion, salt, and egg. Mix the Hell out of it. ( Just picture your players arguing with you.) Shape into One (1) inch balls and brown in a large skillet or frying pan. Drain and then add the rest of your ingredients. Simmer for about Fifteen (15) minutes, stir now and then to make sure meat is well coated with sauce.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now you are ready for the feeding frenzy. Have fun and more recipes are on the way.

Grape jelly?! What in the Nine Hells were you drinking??? j/k That sounds like a great recipe, I can't wait to try it out! So what's your take on exotic-flavored carbonated beverages? Perhaps you might know of some obscure, foaming, bubbly wizard's brew that might satisfy even the most jaded player's palate...non-alcoholic, of course. (I don't need my players swinging from the rafters and yelling things like, "Hey, thith 'Fly' thpell really workth!")

Yes try that one! I must say Niemz made a pea soup that was awesome last Saturday. Double the peas and the ham was wrapped in bacon. It was so good_and filling.

It is nothing special, I just double the split peas and add extra ham. The key is to slow cook it overnight, and use a good hambone. I like it the consistancy of mashed potatoes.

Mashed potatoes rawk! And what's up, Decind? Long time no talk, bud. Zagog must have taken some time off...either that, or he's still locked in that dungeon his profile says they threw him in and won't tell him where he is!

My apologies for taking so long to get back on with you. Four of my colleagues were rotated out to other labs and their replacements were delayed in their arrival. However I am now back for a time and ready for more requests.

Sounds a lot like being locked up in a dungeon to me ^..^
Hmm. Somewhere I have a recipe for Arcadian Mead. I'll have to find it again & post it.
This thread is making me hungry.
