2ed d&d. bar none. why? cause that's what the other are playing. I started out with the boxed basic, then expert, then moved to advanced then finally to 2ed. Once there my friends switched to Palladium 1ed. I took a hiatus of 15+ years found new friends who play 2ed. ta

I like them all but had to vote the latest. 3.5 Now if you brought over the skills to the 2E ruleset hands down it would win in my book. Yeti

I still miss the days of AD+D before 2nd edition. I guess I am just old school. I think I started playing D+D about 20 years ago. I miss the old days...

Well maybe not 26 fopr decind, but at least 20 Wow, I guess I haven't been playing for quite as long as you then, I've only been into D&D since 1982.. though I had friends who played it back in 1980, but it took me a couple of years to get interested in it myself. *shrug* -The Hierophant Druid exploring beyond the grove...

Heh. I didn't start playing ADnD 2e until 1997, when I was introduced to the game via friends from school. I haven't voted in the poll yet because both 2e and 3/3.5e have their setbacks, and their merits. I like both now. But I will agree with Yeti: 2e with 3e's Skills/Feats system instead of proficiencies, AND the Stats system would make it so much better. I'd say it'd be easy enough to make it a homebrew rule combining the best of both systems.

Maybe fourth edition (which we all know will come because it's the obvious next marketing step) will combine 3/3.5's skills/feats/stats with 2nd edition's other concepts. -The Hierophant Druid from beyond the grove...

I am still amazed that you play every Saturday Pops. I figure for all the sh*t you take that you would have quit a while back. I try to be nice myself, but I am the king of dry humor so... Pops, I salute you for sticking with it and I hope to see you every Saturday at the table. Your a good addition to Niemz Realm. Timmy

3.5 is my favorite. I can sum up wehy I like it best in two words.
Rules Balancing
In 2nd Edition a 20th level Wizard will walk all over a 20th level fighter. In 3.5 that fighter will have enough feats and tricks up his sleeve to be able to have a chance.
As for my history of games I have played, my first D&D was the red and blue book of D&D back in 1987 so just shy of 20 years of playing for me.
