What got you interested in D&D? - part III

I think I found Taican's D+D Monstrous manual, and bugged him until hhe started a campaign with kaerie, tefloncougar, and me. It was at around the age of 9-10 I think.

Close enough, Lortan. Although you didn't have too bug me too hard or too long to start a game. ;D

My kids I've given up on, they are more interested in TV and Video games. I got 2 more little ones growing though!

I was around the same age, Lortan. My cousin, who's one or two years older than me, had the DMG, PHB and a campaign or two. He'd played with some other friends his age before. His younger brother (about a year younger than me) and I bugged him for a few months until he ran a game.

We can only hope that Soren grows up to like gaming, since both his mother and I do(and most of our friends for that matter).

My youngest daughter was mad at me because I wouldn't let her play last time, because she couldn't read and write yet. She went to work at it, and now she can read and write, so she's rolling up her first character for the new campaign. I think it's great because it helps with literacy, and math, and gets kids using their imagination.

D&D trumps sesame street, the wiggles, blarney, telelubbies and the rest of those annoying children's shows.

We've always maintained a purple dinosaur free zone. The kids were once given a puzzle with the same dinosaur that was quickly passed on to the other side of the family.

That's great about your daughter learning to read/write to play D&D. I also credit Magic: the Gathering with helping to greatly expand my vocabulary throughout high school.

Can't stand barney here either...or Caillou (a really obnoxious Canadian show with a whiny bald little kid) We're also really getting sick of Elmo. The Elmo's World (or Elmo's Room or whatever it's called) section of Sesame Street seems to get longer with each passing day and he's in most of the other scenes too. We do appreciate Yo Gabba Gabba and It's a Big Big World.
